Steve Wi has been heavily influenced by Marc Rothko and Jean-Paul Riopelle among others. Wi's canvases are rich and colourful. They are mostly acrylic. They are heavily painted and lacquered canvases and tend to be larger and are often the controlling visual in any room they are exhibited.

Wi has only recently started selling a limited number of canvases. Selling prices range between US $1,200 for a smaller canvas, up to US $4,000 for larger canvases.
